Week 4 Reading Question

After reading Concrete and Culture by Adrian Forty, the debate over whether modern concrete structures will ever be important enough to gain the preservation world’s full attention became both easier and harder to explain.  Forty touched on the aesthetic aspects of various architectural schools while others only looked at the technical aspects.  While concrete is a universal material, each region has its own stylistic composition with clear cultural values.  A question of mine that still was not answered by reading this book, mainly because its focus was on the history of the topic not current preservation issues, is how to compromise on what the architect’s vision of the building to how to solve a structure’s structural issues that were caused by these visions.
