Joel’s Week Two Question

It has been well documented that rehabilitation of historic buildings provides a distinct environmental advantage opposed to new construction. These advantages provide socially, economically and environmentally sustainable downtowns and allow for the development of healthy mixed-income neighborhoods. American historic preservation at a larger level, however, receives much of its funding from offshore oil sources. Where do we balance these values of sustainability and how can we cope with these conflicting values? Is there even a need to acknowledge the national funding?
